Mahalo (Thank You)

Hi Blog Followers,

I haven’t posted in a few days. It’s the longest stretch this year.  I have been on vacation visiting Hawaii.  This is where my mother’s side of the family is from.  We lived here until I was 8 years old.   Yesterday I saw my old elementary school and the Catholic church our family attended 35 years ago.  It feels strange, almost like coming back full circle.  Here I am now with my own young children.

My mother passed away about 10 years ago.  Being here is bringing back a flood of memories. This weekend I will see 2nd and 3rd cousins whom I haven’t seen in years.

This time away from the daily rat race has made me very introspective.  It reminds me about how very grateful I am for everything the good Lord has brought my way.

I try to practice gratitude every day.  Some days I’m better at it than others.  This is my long-winded way of saying Thank You to all who support my blog.

It’s a small token, but I have a $50 American Express gift card I would like to give to one of you.  I figure Mother’s day is a good day for that.  You don’t have to do a thing, just accept my gratitude.  I’ll have random.org pick someone from my blog follower list and post the winner here on Sunday.

Again, thank you (or Mahalo! as they say here on the islands)

It’s always nice to go visit the place where you spent some of your childhood days. Must be beautiful!I would love to visit Hawaii someday.
    Hooray for a giveaway! :D

My hubbie is from Hawaii, and much of his family still lives there. I hope you enjoyed some swims in the ocean–not to mention eating all the ono food. Those are my two favorite activities when we visit.

I lived in upcountry Maui and went to 2 Catholic schools there around the same time it sounds, where did you go to school?

      Hi

I went to St. Michael’s in Wailua on Oahu. I had my first Holy Communion there. The school looks the same (only a little smaller!)
